Why re-release a book that just came out less than 8 months ago?
You deserve an answer - especially if you invested your hard-earned money in the first edition!
First, I found an editor while I was writing the novella for "Ever in the After" (coming at you April 1 but you can preorder now on Amazon for just 99 cents!). Want a confession? I was very very nervous about sharing my work with an editor. Some editors can be overbearing, silence your voice, etc. I knew I didn't want that. My stories may not be perfect, but they are mine. You know? So, I got a fantastic recommendation from another author friend of mine, and this editor is awesome. We have a great relationship. I trust her to help me tell Vita's story better than I could alone.
Second, I am hoping "Ever in the After" raises a ton of money for Lift 4 Autism. By providing better quality books, I can help do just that.
Third, one thing was really bugging me, and I had the chance to 'fix' it. Vita's relationship with James. Some of you are nodding. Yes, I know. I got it. :) If you are puzzled, I don't want to put any spoilers on here, but I did attach a handy document below that you can see all the major changes made from the first printing to this new one.
So, if you have an old paperback, you have something amazing and no longer available! Gone are the washed out photos of my daughter's sunburn (seriously, that's what that X is from) on the first page of each chapter. Now there are beautiful scene separators instead of *****.
The new ebook is professionally formatted (she does good work, y'all!).
And now I get to completely focus on bringing you "After I Break". My hope is to publish May 1, but I have to be honest. I'm not going to rush through writing it to meet that day. You deserve the best book I can deliver - an honest ending to Vita's story. And I intend to deliver.
All my love,
Mandy Peterson is the author of "Before I Shatter". She is also a mother, wife, librarian, book reviewer, and self-proclaimed chocolate connoisseur.
